SUMMARY:Florida Friendly Landscaping for Redington Shores
DESCRIPTION:The first step in enhancing and improving the ‘look’ of our parks and parking areas is a brief presentation by Doris Heitzmann of the Pinellas County Extension Service regarding Florida Friendly Landscaping- please mark your calendar for April 12th\, 6 p.m. at Town Hall. \nLearn how you can have a beautiful landscape that saves time\, energy\, and money while protecting our natural environment. \nIf you have a strong interest in and/or are knowledgeable in this area\, we’d like two or three volunteers to work with us on planning and help liaise with Ms. Heitzmann and the architectural landscape designer. \nThis would be a commitment of at least two hours each month for approximately one year. Your positive\, consistent\, active participation will help the Beautification Committee on its way to improving the aesthetics of our gorgeous beachside paradise for our residents\, our guests and our neighbors! \nPlease complete the Volunteer Form found at:\nhttp://townofredingtonshores.com/boards-committees/ \n  \nClick for larger \n  \n

SUMMARY:Turtle Nesting Beach Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:Click for larger \nCelebrate Earth Day with a Turtle Nesting Beach Clean up\nRegister online at WaterWarriorAlliance.org. \nPlease join us as we celebrate Earth Day by cleaning up a turtle nesting area. The event will start at 10 am\, on April 22\, 2023\, at Redington Shores Beach Access\, 18200 Sunset Blvd\, Redington Shores\, FL 33708. \nIn conjunction with the event\, Duke Energy is installing amber lighting on Redington Beach\, North Redington Beach\, and Redington Shores to deter the nesting turtles from the street lights that they often mistake for the moon. The amber lighting will also make it easier for the turtles to find their nests. \nThe event\, hosted by Water Warrior Alliance\, will feature a raffle; Jenna Byrne\, president of the Water Warrior Alliance\, said they expect a remarkable turnout but can always use more volunteers to help prepare the beach for nesting season. \nThe cleanup event will begin with guest speakers\, including the City of Redington Beach\, North Redington Beach\, and Redington Shores Mayors. Next\, a representative from Duke Energy will detail the turtle lighting plan\, which will instantly positively affect turtle nesting on Redington Beach\, North Redington Beach\, and Redington Shores. To conclude the event\, Water Warriors will clean-up the beach. Supplies and parking passes provided by Keep Pinellas Beautiful. \nWe will also hear from Yvette Fernandez\, Senior Biologist with the Sea Turtle Conservation Program at Clearwater Marine Aquarium. In addition\, volunteers will be stationed near the nests to share additional facts about the turtles\, their habitat\, and how we can best ensure their success as a species. \nPlease join us to learn\, listen and clean up the beach for Redington Beach\, North Redington Beach\, and Redington Shores. Sponsorship opportunities are available. \nLet us work together to celebrate Earth Day 2023! \nRSVP
