Due to the Legislature’s newly-imposed requirement that local elected officials file a more detailed Form 6 financial disclosure form, District 2 Commissioner Christy Herig has, with great regret, submitted notice of her resignation from the Town Commission, effective December 30th 2023. Pursuant to the Town’s Charter, the Town Commission must appoint a resident of District 2 to serve out the remainder of the term, which would expire on the second Wednesday of March, 2025, or as soon thereafter as the results of the District 2 election in March of 2025 are certified. The resident appointed to complete the term may run to retain the seat in March of 2025 if the appointee wishes to remain on the Commission.

To be eligible for appointment, you must be a resident of District 2, and a qualified registered voter of District 2. Interested residents are asked to submit a letter or email of interest to the Town Clerk, either in person or at: townclerk@redshoresfl.com no later than Friday, December 22nd at noon. Resumes or other materials supporting your qualifications may also be submitted.

The Town Commission has scheduled a Special Meeting for 6 p.m. on December 27th 2023 to review applicants and make an appointment. If selected to be a Commissioner, the candidate would need to comply with the financial disclosure requirement of the Florida Code of Ethics for Public Officers. A sample of the disclosure form may be reviewed at: https://ethics.state.fl.us/documents/Forms/SampleForm6.pdf?cp=20231214.
