Is the structure value on your FEMA letter too low to repair your property? As an alternative to getting a private appraisal, you may request a Pre-Storm Building Value Reconsideration (BVR) from the Pinellas County Property Appraisers office.
In an attempt to expedite the recovery time for many homeowners, they have implemented a new process whereby an owner may request a Pre-Storm Building Value Reconsideration (BVR) from their office. This can be extremely helpful when updates have been made that their office is unaware of or when repairs/updates have been made since January 1 and before the storm.
Should they determine that a factual change is justified, their office will issue an updated FEMA letter indicating a revised Structure Value and 50% (or 49%) calculation. This will not increase the taxable value of a 100% homesteaded property.
