UPDATE: We will be joining the Town of Indian Shores with a “Signing Day” event on Thursday 02/20/25 and Friday 02/21/25 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Indian Shores Town Hall; 19305 Gulf Blvd. Indian Shores, FL 33785.  Residents are encouraged to support this project to renourish our beach area and so that sand dunes can be installed for those that may also want them.  A notary will be on site and residents can either drop off the easement forms that they have received from Pinellas County, or they can sign one that will be on hand.

Sand Key Project

Pinellas CountyHurricanes Helene and Milton hit our communities hard, including eroding our beaches back to 1980s conditions, and in some areas back to pre-nourished conditions.

Pinellas County is working to renourish the barrier island of Sand Key, which stretches from Clearwater Beach to North Redington Beach. To move forward with the project, signed construction easements are needed from beachfront property owners by Feb. 28, 2025.

Pinellas County mailed easements in December 2024 to properties where an easement was not currently on file.

The easement is a legal document that ONLY allows for construction and maintenance of the beach and dune. The easement does not allow for public access.

Property owners that do not want a dune can request an easement without a dune.

Where are we now?

With the current number of easements, there is not a constructable project south of Belleair Beach.

As of February 14, 208 easements are still needed.

Long, continuous sections of signed easements are necessary to build the beach, and currently there are only enough easements to construct Clearwater Beach and Belleair Beach. Help your community get back its beaches by sending in your signed easement and spreading the word to your neighbors.
