A message from Rick Swann, Chief of Police, Indian Shores Police Department
The holidays are upon us, and I couldn’t be happier to report the results of this years’ ISPD Charity Toy Drive and No Shave-Fund Raiser. As you know this is our Flagship Community event for the men and woman of the Indian Shores-Redington Shores Police Department. Each year we look forward to partnering each year with our citizens, business owners, and our coworkers and elected officials to celebrate the joy of the Holiday Season by helping those in our community that are less fortunate. Because of your generosity, for the 5th year in a row, we also exceed all of our goals! On December 11th, 2023, we delivered 2 tubs of toys the PD purchased for the twin children we sponsored to Santa’s Angels. On December 15, 2023, we delivered 4 trucks full of toys and we delivered another truck full to Santa’s Angels distribution facility yesterday. In addition to the 5 truckloads of toys, we also collected $12,171.00 in direct and in-kind monetary donations. As advertised, all of the monetary donations will be shared between the 4 local charities who all serve families in need throughout Pinellas County.
As most of you know, this event is near and dear to me, and the response and participation expressed by everyone each year is heartwarming and rewarding. However, this year the level of generosity exhibited by everyone involved has been overwhelming and humbling and I sincerely thank each of you.
Santa’s Angel’s Director, Mike Brown, advised that this year, Santa’s Angels staff will be providing toys ,food, and other essential items to 88 needy families with multiple children in each family. Mr. Brown also asked me to express his gratitude to all of you. Mr. Brown advised that the ISPD charity toy drive and fundraising event has become the one of the largest contributors for them and that because of our continued support and your generous contributions, Santa’s Angels will be able to meet their commitment and share the joy of the holiday season with those 88 families.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.
