Due to approaching Hurricane Milton, Pinellas County Utilities will restrict potable water service on the barrier islands beginning at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9 from Sandy Key south to Fort De Soto. Customers will experience very low pressure after this time.
This will pose a safety risk to all residents in: Belleair Beach, Belleair Shore, Indian Rocks Beach, Indian Shores, Redington Shores, Redington Beach, Madeira Beach, John’s Pass, Treasure Island, Pass-a-Grille, St. Pete Beach, South Pasadena, Tierra Verde, and Fort De Soto. We are asking anyone who has not yet evacuated to do so now.
Potable water is being limited to protect critical infrastructure and alleviate strain on our water and wastewater systems. Our substations are still undergoing repairs caused by damages from Hurricane Helene.
This restriction will also affect water service to fire lines, which means fire rescue crews will not have quick access to water from fire hydrants in the event of an emergency.
We urge residents in these areas to heed evacuation warnings. We will continue to provide potable water service and sewer service updates before, during and after the storm via email and text alerts to utilities customer account holders.
