UPDATE: September 26, 2024 7:00 p.m

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM Pinellas County Utilities: We need your help to reduce water usage today and tomorrow to help our water and wastewater systems handle increased rainwater and storm surge from Hurricane Helene. Please take the following steps during the storm:

Limit running dishwashers and clothes washing machines.
Turn off all sprinklers, check that your automatic sprinkler settings are also turned off.
Limit flushing the toilet. Sewers will already be overloaded and too much flushing could cause sewage backups.

UPDATE: September 26, 2024 5:24 p.m

Access to the barrier islands and gulf beaches is anticipated to be cut off around 6 p.m. If your road is not flooded and it is safe to leave, NOW IS YOUR LAST CHANCE to evacuate. If you do not leave, first responders may not be able to get to you for hours in severe storm conditions. Turn off the breakers when you leave. If your road is already flooded, don’t try to get out. Shelter in place in the highest spot inside your home.

UPDATE: September 26, 2024 2:31 p.m.

Following guidance from the U.S. Coast Guard, Pinellas County has locked its three movable bridges, including the Park Boulevard Bridge in the closed position in advance of Hurricane Helene.

The Dunedin Causeway bridges, Beckett Bridge in Tarpon Springs and Park Boulevard Bridge in Seminole will remain open to vehicle traffic, but will not open for boat traffic until conditions are clear following the storm.

Owners of high clearance boats that need to move them to a more secure location before the storm should do so before the bridges close tonight.
